My mind is like an ocean. Always rumbling with ideas and sales spiels. I cannot rest without telling someone about the newest sales scheme doing the rounds. That’s me. Always a compulsive salesman.
Sangeetha Mobiles happened to me quite by chance. In 1974, my father opened a small music store in Bangalore and aptly named it Sangeetha. Seven years later, when I had completed my studies, my father asked me to join his business. By then, the store had moved on to selling televisions. Later, it was the turn of computers (1985) and pagers (1995).
The turning point for Sangeetha and me was 1997. That’s when it became Sangeetha Mobiles, because we decided to only sell mobile phones and have stuck to it till date. In 2002, we opened our second showroom and started our Anniversary Sale, which is the most awaited every year in June. By the end of this financial year, we should hopefully touch 1000 showrooms across India.
Today, we don’t sell mobiles. We sell ‘customer experience’ and strongly believe in CARE – Customers Are Really Everything. Sangeetha Mobiles is a family of 2500 and I am happy to be leading it. But the best part? Some of them have been working with us for 20 years and the average service span is close to 6 years.
Wondering why I am talking so much about Sangeetha Mobiles and not much about myself? Well, that’s me. I am only thinking of the company every waking minute. Seriously. I don’t have time for hobbies. All I do to relax is listen to some good old music. And this could range from Hindi songs, Carnatic and Hindustani classical music. I am a big fan of sitar maestro Ravishankar and tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain. And I almost forgot… I am also the President of the Bangalore Mobile Retailers Association.
My name is L Subhash Chandra. Thank you for helping me keep Sangeetha on song.
